On Tuesday, November 10, at 3:00 p.m., visitors can take a look behind the scenes at the Bergen City Museum on Rügen.
The Bergen City Museum is peacefully situated in the beautiful monastery courtyard, and its clearly structured façade dignifiedly commemorates major historical events. But much earlier—in 1193, to be precise—the monastery complex and St. Mary’s Church were consecrated. What was the story behind the nuns from Roskilde who lived here, and why did the monastery become a noble ladies’ convent in the 16th century?
During the guided tour, museum director Marika Emonds not only allows participants to experience the historic building but also offers a glimpse behind the scenes and into the day-to-day routine of museum work. For example, participants will be shown new acquisitions from recent months and learn how the museum handles them.
