From the program of the platform filmfriend, the Stralsund City Library invites all interested parties to the film "Toast" on 8 May.
"Toast" tells the story of Nigel Slater's childhood and youth in England in the 1960s and 1970s. Slater is a celebrated cookbook author in his home country - and an expressly "unprofessional" chef, an advocate of emphatically simple cuisine. Nevertheless, Jamie Oliver said of him: 'Nigel is a bloody genius.
Based on Slater's autobiography (Eng. "Halbe Portion. How I discovered my passion for cooking'), 'Billy Elliot' screenwriter Lee Hall and director SJ Clarkson have created an enchanting piece of cinematic magic reminiscent of Jean-Pierre Jeunet's 'The Fabulous World of Amélie'. They are supported by Freddie Highmore ("Charlie and the Chocolate Factory") as Nigel Slater and the great Helena Bonham Carter ("The King's Speech") as Mrs. Potter.
In addition to the movie, popcorn and drinks, the city library will be presenting a media table with suitable novels and films as well as background information on the topic of the movie. This gives visitors the chance to delve deeper into the story, discover new reading ideas and borrow suitable media directly.
The film evening will take place on May 8 at 6 p.m. in the Stralsund City Library. For an authentic experience, this time the movie will be shown in the original English with German subtitles.
Tickets cost 5 euros and are available at the box office and in advance during the library's service hours. Reserved tickets can be picked up until April 30.
