Whether in graphic art, printmaking, photography, or the written word—their works focus on form, contrast, structure, and meaning.
Yet the exhibition “Black and White with an ‘Award’” points to more than just an aesthetic choice. It questions the tendency to measure artistic success in simple categories: well-known or unknown, trained or untrained, successful or unsuccessful, awarded or overlooked. The participating artists are at different stages in their careers. They bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the table and interrelate them with one another. Together, they demonstrate that the quality and impact of art can rarely be captured in clear-cut judgments or external evaluations.
The exhibition opens up a space for nuances. It invites visitors to reconsider the boundaries between recognition and perception, visibility and significance, and to engage with the diversity of artistic forms of expression.
As part of the opening reception on October 4, 2026, the artists—defying all conventional evaluation systems—will present awards to themselves and their guests. After all, if art cannot be clearly measured, why should recognition be?
