“I want a coffee grinder like that, too—one that plays a song when you crank it. Hands up!” The robber Hotzenplotz takes whatever he likes. Now he’s stolen Kasperl’s grandmother’s musical coffee grinder, which she’d just received as a birthday gift from her grandson and his friend Seppel. Since Officer Dimpfelmoser is completely overwhelmed, the two friends decide to catch the robber on their own. Kasperl already has a really good plan, which is put into action in no time—but then the two friends become prisoners themselves. While Seppel is stuck in the robbers’ lair and has to work hard there, Kasperl is sold by Hotzenplotz to the evil wizard Petrosilius Zwackelmann. The two friends’ situation is almost hopeless. But then Kasperl discovers the fairy Amaryllis, who has been turned into a toad...
With *The Robber Hotzenplotz*, the world-famous children’s book author Otfried Preußler has not only created one of the most beloved villains in German-language children’s literature, but also an exciting and humorous adventure story in which, thanks to magical fairy-tale elements and a great friendship, the powerful are ultimately defeated by the weak.
