Historical film about Margrete I, who united the Nordic kingdoms but is challenged by the appearance of a supposedly deceased son. In 1402, Margrete I reigned over Denmark, Norway and Sweden. She has established peace through the Kalmar Union. But political stability is shaken when a young man appears claiming to be her son Oluf, who died years ago. Margrete finds herself caught in a web of intrigue in which she must choose between her maternal feelings and responsibility for her kingdom.
