Ballet by Ralf Dörnen with music by Peter I. Tchaikovsky
The Stahlbaums are celebrating Christmas and Mr. Drosselmeier arrives with presents for the children Klara-Marie and Fritz. Klara receives a wooden nutcracker, which the jealous Fritz breaks. But Dr. Drosselmeier repairs it. Christmas continues, Klara falls asleep in her room with her new toy and begins to dream: the room gets bigger and bigger, and as if by magic her toy awakens and a doll's magic begins. The new nutcracker also awakens and, after some adventurous events, turns into a prince. If the prince stands for good, then evil is not far away: Only one can emerge victorious from the battle against the Mouse King... The whole thing was just a dream. Klara-Marie wakes up with her Nutcracker in her arms, but she is left with the memory of a wonderful adventure.
From December, the popular ballet classic "The Nutcracker" by ballet director Ralf Dörnen with music by Peter I. Tchaikovsky can celebrate its revival in its eleventh cast!
"The Nutcracker" has been one of the most frequently performed pieces in the ballet repertoire for over 100 years. Just as Humperdinck's "Hansel and Gretel" has become a Christmas opera for young and old, "The Nutcracker" could be described as a Christmas ballet.
