Seebühne Hiddensee A fairytale play about art, artificiality, love & transience for audiences aged 8 and over
"In China, as you know, the emperor is Chinese, and everyone he has around him is also Chinese. It's been many years now, but that's why it's worth hearing the story before it's forgotten! The emperor's castle was the most magnificent in the world: made entirely of fine porcelain, so precious, but so brittle, so awkward to touch, that one had to be very careful."
This is how Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale begins. Seebühne Hiddensee has created a poetic play about the emperor who loves his nightingale until he gets a mechanical bird from a neighboring country. Traditional Asian characters appear in it, and everything floats on a specially composed enchanting soundscape.
