The history of the independent Principality of Rügen ended 700 years ago with the death of the last prince, Wizlaw III. This anniversary is an occasion for the Historische Kommission für Pommern e. In addition to the academic conference, visitors can look forward to a varied supporting program:
Concert in the Marienkirche Barth (October 10, 8 p.m.): "Wizlaw der junghe singhet" - Sangsprüche and Minnelieder on historical instruments, played by the Hieronymus Consort.
Special exhibition in the Papenhof (October 11, 2 p.m.): "The Principality of Rügen" - with archaeological finds and exciting insights into the princely era.
Excursion "In the footsteps of the Wizlawids in mainland Rügen" (October 12): With stops in Barth, Starkow and Stralsund, including a lunch break in the parish garden.
The event is aimed not only at specialists, but also at anyone with an interest in history and culture. It offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in history and at the same time experience the cultural heritage of Barth and Vorpommern.
