"A piece of heaven..." or: "When I am eternal"
The "Tetschen Altarpiece - The Cross in the Mountains" is probably the most famous and most valuable painting of German Romanticism. Its creator, Caspar David Friedrich, was a quiet man. He spent weeks roaming through nature, sketching and then compiling his sketches into new compositions. His letters also bear witness to a humorous man, a loner, but one who put his family above all else. The program offers memories and inspiration from a life between Rügen and Saxon Switzerland. Perhaps Dresden is by the sea after all? The evening is accompanied by romantic soundscapes.
The Dresden ensemble Cerca Dio presents the artist from different perspectives, just as Caspar David Friedrich was - extraordinary.
