Really now?!? German cabaret has been around for 125 years? What makes cabaret, which has often been declared dead, so viable? This "cheerful child of an eleventh muse, who conceived it in loose love affairs with the theater, vaudeville, the political tribune", as Friedrich Hollaender described it, it lived and lives from the human spirit of contradiction. Mix it with humor, a few punchlines, a little wink and the daily madness becomes more bearable. The Erfurt "Arche" cabaret artist Ulf Annel briefly, colorfully and amusingly traces the path from the "Überbrettl" to the humorous-satirical today.
