Anyone who grows up in the GDR, survives the fall of the Berlin Wall, weathered several fashion trends, raises children, and eventually has to come to terms with reading glasses, menopause, and their own forgetfulness either has a lot to tell—or has successfully repressed it all. Tatjana Meissner clearly belongs to the first category.
With disarming candor and a great sense of self-deprecating humor, the entertainer recounts her childhood and youth in the GDR, her first loves, multiple marriages and divorces, hair-raising disasters and career detours, comical misunderstandings, and life’s countless pitfalls. In doing so, she takes aim not only at the world around her, but above all at herself.
Sometimes hilarious, sometimes touching, but always honest, Tatjana Meissner tells the story of a life caught between sex and humor, loud laughter and quiet groans. Or the other way around.
This show is an autobiographical roller-coaster ride full of punchlines, contemporary history, and the comforting realization: Life may not get any easier—but the stories just keep getting better.
