On June 20, 2026, Barth is taking part in Brick Gothic Day and inviting visitors to take a special tour of the town.
The annual day of action draws attention across Europe to the cultural heritage of Brick Gothic, an important architectural epoch that is particularly prevalent in the Baltic Sea region. Numerous cities along the European Route of Brick Gothic offer exclusive insights, guided tours and events on this day.
In Barth, a guided tour with tour guide Birgitt Blümer entitled "On the trail of Brick Gothic" awaits you. The tour connects central historical buildings in the town, including the imposing St. Mary's Church, the Papenhof, the Dammtor and the Fangelturm. Optionally, the Bible Center can also be included in the route.
Barth, a state-approved resort town and "gateway to the Darß", impresses with its rich architectural history and numerous medieval brick buildings, which still characterize the townscape today. The guided tour offers exciting insights into the architecture, history and significance of brick Gothic for the region.
