Piano sonatas by Kraus, Haydn and Mozart
with Dmitry Ablogin (piano) and Jan Brachmann (in conversation)
Piano sonatas by Joseph Martin Kraus, Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Like Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Martin Kraus was born in 1756. He came from Miltenberg am Main and at a young age became Kapellmeister at the court of the Swedish King Gustav III in Stockholm. During a major trip to Europe, he also met Joseph Haydn in Vienna, who admired his young colleague immensely.
Dmitry Ablogin is a master of the piano music of this classical style: for its wit, its sensitivity and its spirit of improvisation. In conversation with our festival dramaturge Jan Brachmann, he will talk about the unusual life of Joseph Martin Kraus, who died just as young as Mozart, only one year after him, in Stockholm in 1792.
