Thanks to this craft activity at the city library, the participants will still have something blooming next year...
The pre-Christmas season begins in mid-November—and for many, this includes an Advent calendar to help pass the time until the big celebration. Anyone interested in creating a truly unique and sustainable Advent calendar is warmly invited to the Stralsund City Library on November 18, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Together with members of the “Umweltprojekte Nord” association, participants will have the opportunity to design their own Advent calendars.
A variety of materials will be used—in the spirit of upcycling. What makes this special is that the calendars will be filled with seeds that will bloom into a colorful display in the coming gardening season. The raw seeds will be provided by various regional organizations.
All creative individuals aged ten and older who enjoy plants or would like to bring special joy to others with a handmade Advent calendar are invited. No prior experience is required. Participation is free; all necessary materials will be provided.
The event is sponsored by the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Climate and Environmental Protection Foundation.
