The tour covers about 42 kilometers, winding through the Putbus Castle Park, along the Rügischer Bodden, and through varied landscapes featuring lakes, villages, and beautiful views.
On Sunday, July 5, 2026, the Sunday Bike Tour invites you to join a roughly 42-kilometer loop ride on Rügen. The meeting point for anyone who would like to carpool from Ribnitz to the starting point is at 8:30 a.m. on the market square in Ribnitz.
The bike tour itself begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Wreechener Weg parking lot in Putbus, right next to the castle park. To kick things off, there will be a brief tour of Putbus Castle Park, including the white fallow deer enclosure and the famous Circus with its neoclassical white buildings. The route then heads toward the Rügischer Bodden, with participants cycling along its shore for a stretch.
Via Lauterbach, past the Goor bathhouse, the route continues through charming natural scenery of meadows and woods. In Muglitz, there’s a view of the island of Vilm. The route continues via Groß Stresow and Preetz to Seedorf on Lake Neuensien, where a picnic lunch is planned. There will also be a snack bar on site offering drinks, fish sandwiches, and currywurst. Afterward, a steep climb awaits, but it’s rewarded with particularly beautiful views of the landscape. Via Moritzdorf and Altensien, the tour continues to Lancken-Granitz, where three well-preserved megalithic tombs can be seen. On the way to Klein Stresow, participants will also experience one of Rügen’s typical cobblestone paths. From there, the Bodden comes back into view before the route leads back to Putbus through the villages of Nadelitz and Vilmnitz. As a reward for reaching the finish, coffee and plum cake await at the museum café in the former monkey house.
