Under the theme “Schliemann on Tour,” the Schliemann Museum in Ankershagen once again invites children and teens to visit Ankershagen during the summer break. With a colorful mix of learning, fun, and creativity, we’ll travel to all sorts of places around the world together with the great archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann. The varied summer program will take place from July 16 to August 20, 2026, every Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the grounds of the Schliemann Museum.
Thu, July 16. ITALY: “Bella Italia – In the Footsteps of the Ancient Romans!”
Join us as we dive into the world of ancient Rome and create your own Colosseum with gladiators in a shoebox. Of course, the Romans’ gear and jewelry are a must-have too.
Thu, July 23: GREECE: “With Zeus & Co. through Ancient Greece”
We’ll explore the world of Greek mythology by building a replica of a Greek temple and crafting creative god-themed items. You can also design your own mythological tales on frieze panels.
Thu, July 30: AMERICA: “The Gold Rush and the First Settlers!”
Try your luck at gold panning and take Western-style souvenir photos at the fun photo wall. Get creative making dreamcatchers, Native American jewelry, and your own tomahawks. We’ll also build a Statue of Liberty and design our own sheriff badges.
Thu, Aug 6: EGYPT: “In the Land of the Pharaohs”
Following in the footsteps of one of the 7 Wonders of the World, we’ll create a glowing sand picture of the pyramids, craft a scarab from soapstone, and discover the fascinating jewelry of the pharaohs.
Thu, Aug. 13: CHINA: “Dragon Magic and Silk Art”
A touch of the Far East comes to Ankershagen—make movable kites in the brightest colors and get a taste of the craft of silk painting.
Thu, Aug. 20: ENGLAND: “British Summer”
Discover England’s sights and unique features in a creative way—using various materials, we’ll craft the mythical Stonehenge stone circle and mythical figures from Ireland and Scotland.
