The orchestra was founded in 1974 by Eberhard Malitius.
What makes our orchestra particularly interesting is its diversity. Members from a wide range of generations play together. In addition to mandolins, our instrumentation includes mandolas, guitars, and double basses. Our repertoire is also characterized by a broad spectrum—ranging from classical to folk pieces. Over the decades, it has been particularly shaped by various concert tours and cultural exchanges with other music groups in Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America.
