A brief introduction to the history of cursive writing
"Sütterlin", the typeface named after the Berlin graphic artist Ludwig Sütterlin, is the last typeface to be used in schools as part of the development of German writing scripts. Over the years and regionally, there were very different scripts and ways of writing. Researching older records, such as diaries, ancestral passports or grandparents' notes, requires knowledge of how to read this old script. With a brief introduction to the history of writing and the presentation of materials and tools, the origins and understanding of the craft are developed and the foundations for reading and writing are laid.
