Live tour "... and the roads are still long"
Stern-Combo Meißen is one of the most important rock bands of the former GDR and can look back on more than six decades of band history. The group was founded in 1964 in the Saxon town of Meißen. Based on beat and rock music, the band developed its characteristic style in the 1970s, which combined rock with elements of classical music and made it a formative formation of East German art rock.
With successful concept albums and elaborately arranged compositions, the band earned itself a firm place in German rock history. To this day, the Stern-Combo Meißen continues to delight audiences with its musical diversity, great enthusiasm and energetic live performances.
From the beginning of 2024 to mid-September 2025, the band toured live on their extremely successful anniversary tour with well over 60 concerts under the motto "60 years ... the long way". In sold-out venues, they impressively demonstrated that, despite their 60 years behind them, they don't sound a bit "dusty" or even "old-fashioned". Quite the opposite: as the longest-serving art rock legends, the band presented themselves fresh as a daisy and full of new musical ideas!
The release of the album "Die Himmelsscheibe von Nebra" in September 2024, which received top marks from both the public and numerous media outlets, provided the perfect tailwind. Singer, keyboardist and composer Manuel Schmid in particular was once again the creative driving force behind the band's work, which deals impressively with the creation of a culturally and historically significant testimony to the history of mankind - namely this sky disk. "The Nebra Sky Disk" fits seamlessly into the artistic work of STERN-COMBO MEISSEN to date.
In 2025/26, STERN-COMBO MEISSEN will once again be performing live on many stages across the country. New songs can be expected, but unforgettable classics such as "Der Kampf um den Südpol", "Die Sage", "Der weite Weg", "Stundenschlag", "Wir sind die Sonne", "Eine Nacht", "Nimm die Welt in die Hand" or excerpts from the conceptual work "Weißes Gold" will of course not be missing on this tour. With over 12 successful studio albums to their name, the band can draw from their rich song collection and make each of their concerts unique.
In addition to band founder, percussionist and singer Martin Schreier, singer and keyboarder Manuel Schmid, drummer Frank Schirmer, bassist Axel Schäfer, keyboarder Sebastian Düwelt and guitarist Michael Lehrmann, the band's musical excellence is also ensured by the technical crew, who have worked together for many years to produce the distinctive "STERN" sound that audiences have come to expect and continue to appreciate.
