Arts and crafts market
For many years, it has been a tradition for the Wismar St. Martin’s Market to kick off the fall and pre-Christmas season. Accordingly, the doors of the Wismar Market Hall will open again this year from October 15–17 for the large St. Martin’s Market featuring arts and crafts. The offerings from the numerous artisans will range from fragrant, handmade soaps to creative textile collages and oil paintings, stylish floral arrangements, paper-wire art, a variety of accessories, and wooden sculptures made from various types of wood. Extraordinary jewelry designs and imaginative fashion creations will take center stage. Traditional ceramics and brushes in every conceivable size are also waiting for their new owners. Visitors can watch a chair weaver or a glass bead maker at work right before their eyes. As they do every year, the volunteers from the Wismarer Archivverein e.V. will also be there with their books, posters, and postcards—the proceeds from these sales will be used to restore and digitize the valuable originals in the Wismar City Archives. Even before you step through the gates of the market hall, warm mutzen, spices, and teas from around the world, a beekeeper, and even Scandinavian licorice will tempt visitors of all ages and get them in the mood for the Wismar St. Martin’s Market. Speaking of which, a craft corner has been set up especially for them. While parents explore the market’s festive offerings at their leisure, children can craft and tinker to their heart’s content on Saturday and Sunday under the expert guidance of the “Licht am Horizont” association. The wide variety of food and drinks, provided by Hansekontor Wismar, will be available on all three days of the market. The Wismar St. Martin’s Market is open on Friday, October 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is no admission fee.
