The Contact and Information Center for Self-Help Groups (KISS) and the Stralsund City Library invite you to a special reading at City Hall on Friday, September 4. The guest will be actress and author Gesine Cukrowski, who will present her latest book, “Sorry Tarzan, I’ll Save Myself—Escaping the Cliché Trap.”
The event begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall. In her book, Gesine Cukrowski explores gender roles and challenges societal stereotypes that women in midlife face in particular. She combines personal experiences from her many years of work in film and television with a passionate plea for greater visibility, self-determination, and diversity.
Gesine Cukrowski is one of Germany’s most popular actresses (“Der letzte Zeuge,” “Hotel Mondial,” and many more) and has been a public advocate for greater visibility for women for years. With her initiative “Let’s Change the Picture,” she has sparked a nationwide debate on age stereotypes and role clichés. Her book invites readers to question traditional notions and confidently chart their own path. In 2025, she was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for her many years of dedication.
Following the event, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase the author’s books on site. Of course, Gesine Cukrowski will also sign copies of her book that attendees bring with them upon request.
The organizers are looking forward to an inspiring evening with a passionate author who encourages people to forge their own paths and rethink entrenched stereotypes.
