Solo without Sunny

A theater evening by and with Inga Bruderek - one actress, ten roles

In 1980, the film "Solo Sunny" was released in GDR cinemas. The main character of the film is pop singer Ingrid Sommer, who wants to pursue an independent artistic path. Her professional aspirations are thwarted by the structures of her time. But although her longing for love finds no fulfillment, she does not give up. Elke Mark is so impressed by the film's leading actress that she names her daughter, born in 1980, Sunny - Sunny Mark. She wants to give her daughter all the opportunities that she herself has been denied. She lets her take dancing and singing lessons and enables her to enter the world of entertainment.

Years later, the adult Sunny encounters the same hierarchies and structures that make her dependent and patronized. And just like her idol once did, she tries to break out, always in search of her own, the original. A lot has changed in the 45 years since the film was released, but the questions about one's own life remain - how do I want to live, how can I live? A play about the life plans of women in love, work and society, about the search for one's own identity.
