"Sketch of a Summer," André Kubiczek's novel set in Potsdam, comes to the Kurhaus Warnemünde as an atmospheric reading accompanied by music from the 1980s.
Isabell Gerschke and Christian Näthe combine literature, singing, and live music to create an atmospheric evening full of summer vibes and memories of the 1980s.
THE STORY
Potsdam, summer 1985: Summer vacation. Sixteen-year-old René is home alone—with 1,000 marks in his pocket, his mother deceased, and his father away on a trip. Together with his friends, he experiences weeks that feel irretrievably gone. They roam through the hot, deserted city, sit in cafés—and above all, everything revolves around the search for true love.
Well-known actress Isabell Gerschke and actor and singer Christian Näthe began their collaborative stage work with this production. They read from the novel, perform music, and interpret songs that play a special role in the book—including music from the ’80s, such as by The Cure, Eurythmics, Vanessa Paradis, and many more.
THE ACTORS
Isabell Gerschke is a well-known film and television actress known for her roles in “Polizeiruf 110,” “In aller Freundschaft,” and “Heiter bis tödlich: Akte Ex,” among others. In 1999, she studied pop singing at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood and completed stage dance training at Danceworks in Berlin.
Actor and singer Christian Näthe (lead singer of the cult band “Hasenscheisse,” which he founded in 1990 with his friend Matthias Mengert) is known as a film actor for his roles in “Mit Herz und Holly,” “Wilsberg,” and “Fack ju Göhte,” among others. He began his film career at the age of 13 in the movie “Feriengewitter” and recently returned to the camera for the TV series “Hijack” (UK).
