The aging rock star Jackson Maine discovers the talented singer Ally and falls in love with her. Ally had almost given up on her big dream of a career in music. Jackson encourages her and eventually even takes her on tour with him. Ally grows up to become a pop star with him as her mentor, and their personal relationship begins to suffer as a result. Jackson's inner demons and his alcohol addiction put their love to the test.
