SHUTEEN ERDENEBAATAR / BETWEEN LIGHT (MING)
“With *Between Light*, pianist and composer Shuteen Erdenebaatar begins a new chapter in her artistic journey—a harmonious exploration of identity, transformation, and belonging.
This music comes to life in the quiet hour between night and day, when the stars fade, the moon lingers, and a new light begins to emerge.
Trained as a classical musician in Mongolia, Shuteen Erdenebaatar made the courageous decision to leave her homeland and study jazz in Germany. Caught between worlds and traditions, she often felt she didn’t truly belong anywhere. But over time, she transformed this sense of being in-between into her artistic strength and developed a musical voice that bridges different genres and cultures while remaining entirely her own.
Her music speaks directly to the heart—grounded, lyrical, and alive in the moment.
Each piece unfolds like a breath, flows organically, thrives on the freedom of jazz, is characterized by classical clarity, and shines through her unique melodic language as well as the openness of modern minimalism. Between Light captures the feeling of being everywhere at once, as well as the question of belonging. Her piano becomes both a mirror and a compass, chronicling a journey toward self-acceptance in which every influence, every memory, and every contradiction comes together to form a greater, harmonious whole. The result is music that radiates quiet strength—self-assured, ever-evolving, delicate, and full of hope.
Here, light is more than a metaphor—it is alive. It reveals the beauty in change, the meaning in contrasts, and the gentle power of becoming. Transformation is not seen as a loss, but as a blossoming—a space where opposites come together and new identities and possibilities emerge."
