expressive photos and portraits of 9 waterfowl
The "water habitat" is a focus of the Schwerin nature conservation station. Part 1 "Schwerin water birds" consists of 9 portraits with expressive photos by the Schwerin hobby photographer Marlon Gartmann and the volunteer nature conservation warden on Ziegelwerder Fred-Rüdiger Knaack.
The diorama is now also visible to visitors again in the exhibition room. Behind a pane, more than 20 animals can be seen as specimens in a recreated landscape of Lake Schwerin. The current exhibition refers to this and explains, for example, the living conditions of the white-tailed eagle and the white-tailed rail as well as recommendations for behavior on the water, e.g. in shore areas or during water sports.
The development of the new exhibition was funded by the North German Foundation for Environment and Development (NUE). From February 2026, the exhibition can be requested as a traveling exhibition for institutions and other public places.
Additional opening hours at weekends in combination with public events can be found online.
