To celebrate German Unity Day, the State capital Schwerin invites you to take a historical walking tour.

To mark German Unity Day this year, the State capital Schwerin is inviting residents to join a historical walking tour through the city. The tour will visit key sites associated with the Peaceful Revolution and the events of the fall of 1989 in Schwerin, bringing personal memories and historical context to life.

The tour will be led by Mayor Sebastian Ehlers and GDR civil rights activist Martin Klähn. Stops will include St. Paul’s Church, the Arsenal at Pfaffenteich, Schwerin Cathedral, the Marstall, and the Alter Garten. The walk will last about 90 minutes.

The meeting point is on October 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the main entrance of the Stadthaus. From there, the group will walk through the city together and then on to the market. Afterward, there will be an opportunity for personal interaction and further conversation over coffee and cake in the Demmlersaal. To assist with organizational planning, please RSVP by September 28 at the latest to protokoll@schwerin.de.
