Trøstesang is a trio from Rostock that interprets Nordic music spanning folk, chamber music, and jazz—with a lineup that is as unusual as it is moving:
- Thomas Braun – violin, flugelhorn
- Karl Scharnweber – piano, harmonium
- Enrique Marcano González – double bass
The repertoire consists of original compositions as well as music from Denmark, Sweden, and Norway—including works by Gjermund Larsen, Lars Danielsson, and Bjarke Falgren, among others. This creates delicate and expansive soundscapes full of longing, wanderlust, and emotional depth.
The musicians combine international concert experience with a unique understanding of sound: multi-instrumentalist Thomas Braun on violin and flugelhorn, Venezuelan bassist Enrique Marcano González, and pianist and composer Karl Scharnweber work together to create a transparent, deeply emotional sound.
Since 2017, Trøstesang has been touring throughout Germany, performing primarily in churches—in Hamburg, Berlin, Saxony, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and Brandenburg—at special venues where music finds space and resonance.
Trøstesang has a particularly powerful effect in acoustically sensitive spaces whose atmosphere, spirit, and sound perfectly complement the Nordic character of our music. We bring along a few floor spotlights to bathe the music and the space in a dreamlike light.
