Workshop with Sus Reeg as part of the German Sustainability Action Days

Seeds are a common good and should not be patented or restricted. Nature embodies an indispensable will to survive—we are constantly amazed by how powerfully nature carves out new spaces for itself and passes on its gene pool. Many heirloom vegetable varieties have been propagated from generation to generation and bred to possess the best characteristics. They are hardy, perfectly adapted to our climate, and often have a truly distinctive flavor. To ensure these heirloom varieties are not lost, they must be grown regularly to maintain their germination capacity. In the community garden and for the seed library, we’re collecting seeds and, in a workshop with garden designer Sus Reeg, learning all sorts of interesting facts about collecting, cleaning, and drying seeds.
