World Songs
Sarah McQuaid is one of the most innovative songwriters and guitarists on the European folk scene. Sarah is best known for her lush, chocolaty voice, her haunting lyrics and her "brilliant musicianship"(fRoots).
She is a citizen of the world. Born in Spain, she grew up in Chicago, from where she embarked on her first tours of the USA and Canada with the Chicago Children's Choir from the age of twelve. In between, she lived in Ireland for 13 years and in Cornwall since 2007. Sarah brings the eclecticism of her background to her "captivating, unorthodox songwriting"(PopMatters) and her choice of material, which spans entire genres.
In 2017, Sarah was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Ards International Guitar Festival in Northern Ireland. The award has been presented annually since 1999 for outstanding innovation on the guitar. To date, Sarah is the only female winner. The perfect concert, therefore, especially on the eve of International Women's Day.
Admission is €15, €10 for schoolchildren, students and disabled people.
