Light music from the 20s to the 50s
The salon orchestra is dedicated to sophisticated light music from the 1920s to the 1950s in the style of Max Raabe. With tailor-made arrangements by Walter Diesterhaupt, the ensemble brings together former professional musicians and amateurs to form a close-knit group of musicians.
Johannes Groh founded the ensemble over 20 years ago. In 1997, the musicians gave their first concert under the title "Seniorenband Neustrelitz". The young-at-heart musicians have achieved cult status with their many performances at a wide variety of venues and occasions.
Traditionally, the salon orchestra gives a spring ball in the Landestheater, a summer concert in the Inselgaststätte Helgoland and two autumn concerts, usually in the Orangerie Neustrelitz.
