Daisuke Yagi
Born in Japan in 2003, Daisuke Yagi began playing the piano at the age of four. At just thirteen, he made history as the youngest ever prizewinner at the prestigious Pozzoli International Piano Competition, where he won third prize - an honor he previously shared with prizewinners such as Maurizio Pollini. He went on to win first prizes at several major international competitions, setting records as the youngest winner in the competition's history, including the 2018 Città di Cantù International Piano Competition, the 2019 Andrea Baldi International Piano Competition, the 2019 Città di Spoleto International Piano Competition, the 2022 La Palma d'Oro International Piano Competition and the 2023 Lyon International Piano Competitions. In addition to his success as a pianist, Yagi is characterized by his intellectual and interdisciplinary approach to music. He explores the piano repertoire through academic, philosophical and historical considerations, developing a unique, informed perspective that ranges from Renaissance works to contemporary music. He is currently studying with Connie Shih at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and with Aki Kuroda at the Accademia del Ridotto in Italy. At the same time, he is studying early music at the Mozarteum and completing his studies in aesthetics and art studies (philosophy) at Keio University.
From 2020 to 2022, Yagi was selected as a Chanel Pygmalion Days Artist and regularly gave concerts in Tokyo. Since 2020, he has been continuously supported as an artist by IDHoldings.
