The time has finally come - on May 30, 2026, the west wing and the ballrooms in Ludwigslust Palace will reopen! The restored west wing will bring life at court to life on three floors, in a total of 25 exhibition rooms and on just over 1.000 square meters of exhibition space with historical interiors, high-quality paintings and silk wall coverings will bring the life of ladies at court to life. For the first time, the world of women in the palace can be experienced in a didactic and spatial way. In keeping with the Baroque era, a festive and entertaining program at the opening ceremony will put guests in the right mood for their tour of the palace, which will then be fully accessible as a museum for the first time.
Opening of the west wing on May 30, 2026
The official opening will take place at 1 pm. After a short musical prelude and a welcome by Dr. Pirko Kristin Zinnow, Director of the State Palaces, Gardens and Art Collections of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and a welcoming address by Manuela Schwesig, Minister President of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the west wing will be symbolically opened.Afterwards, guests can look forward to a varied program: baroque short concerts, castle talks, historical fencing and theater shows, children's events, baroque robes, exhibitors, walk acts and baroque stage plays will provide entertainment throughout the afternoon. Food and drink will also be provided.
