"In love with Hölderlin, married in Ludwigslust. The life and work of Hereditary Grand Duchess Auguste of Mecklenburg-Schwerin."
Lecture by and with Dr. René Wiese, Archive Director, State Office for Culture and Monument Preservation, State Archive Department. The Hereditary Grand Duchess, who was born 250 years ago, was one of the most thought-provoking and influential inspirers of the Christian revival movement, not only in the House of Mecklenburg. The princess, who was at the cutting edge of many issues, including scientific ones, left behind a large number of letters, excerpts and notes as well as an exquisite library - very revealing of her life from 1776 to 1871, which can also be called a transformation of the world in Ludwigslust.
