Alma Lundt is the pseudonym of the author Petra Kasch. She graduated in literature and library science. Before turning to crime fiction, she wrote numerous books for children and young adults. She is a member of the "Syndikat". Her books often combine past and present. She is passionate about researching in libraries and archives all over the world. Alma Lundt now lives in Berlin.
About the book:
Martha Roth is a pediatrician, a good one, a self-sacrificing one, one who puts the welfare of children above all else. The price for this is high: first she loses her boyfriend, then her job. And then her mind? If her boss has his way, she lost it the night she claimed that a severely abused girl had died on the children's ward. A girl who supposedly never existed. As soon as she is released from the rehab clinic she was admitted to after this incident, it happens again. She finds a half-dead boy on the side of the road, but he disappears without a trace when she tries to take him to hospital. The search for the boy turns more and more into a desperate hunt for certainty. Is she on the trail of a crime, or is she just imagining things? Is she seeing children who don't even exist?
