With her novel "Ab jetzt ist Ruhe" (From now on it's quiet), she has created a memorial to her extraordinary family.
She is one of the most important and distinctive voices in the German radio landscape (e.g. on radioeins). And she is an incredible storyteller: Marion Brasch! With her novel "Ab jetzt ist Ruhe" she has created a monument to her extraordinary family.
Marion Brasch grew up in a Jewish-Communist family with Austrian-German roots. Her father Horst Brasch was a young man in British exile & later a cultural functionary in the GDR, her brother Thomas Brasch ("Vor den Vätern sterben die Söhne") one of the best-known poets & Shakespeare translators. Her brothers Peter & Klaus Brasch were also artists. She has attempted to get to the bottom of what she calls her "fabulous family" in her novel "Ab jetzt ist Ruhe". But Marion Brasch also invented the wonderful character of Wunderlich, who sometimes travels north & whose stories are always about a bit of magical realism. Marion Brasch's first children's book was published last fall: "Winterkind und Herr Jemineh".
