about dying in the family, with Britta Rudnick
The Bad Doberan author Britta Rudnick reads from her book Eine Pusteblume namens Papa. People don't like to talk about death. Words are often lacking. But Britta Rudnick has found words and written a book about dying with the family. It tells of how a family can fulfill the father's wish to die at home through solidarity, mutual support and respect.
Beforehand, the family did not know exactly what to expect when they cared for their seriously ill father at home until he died. They experience an intense phase with uncertainty, excessive demands and exhaustion, but also with magical, intimate and sometimes even funny moments.
Britta Rudnik wants to encourage affected families and show them that they are not alone. A reading in the exhibition "Life is color - color is life". Volunteers from the Kühlungsborn outpatient hospice and children's hospice service show pictures in which they have painted death from their souls, so to speak. Because those who stand by people in their last days and weeks feel traces, it takes strength and wants to be processed. One form is painting one's own emotional world. The exhibition is open until 28.2., Wed to Sat from 14.00 to 17.00. Admission free.
