Approaches in times of heated debates / Cooperation with the Literaturhaus Rostock
The tone has become rough - in Germany, Europe and the world. Hate speech and aggression seem to dominate politics and social interaction. The Literaturhaus Rostock and the Volkstheater are working together to find new ways of talking to experts.
To kick off
Wieder sprechen, on March 27 at the Literaturhaus, the focus will be on the prerequisites for successful dialog. Communication scientist Bernhard Pörksen(Zuhören, Die große Gereiztheit) will meet sociologist Nils C. Kumkar(Polarisierung). The question will be: How can a real conversation, a real listening, succeed - in public and in private?
On April 26, the focus will be on the field of culture wars, in which the impression of irreconcilability so easily arises. How much diversity of opinion can a discussion about gender roles, old and new masculinity and feminism withstand? Our guest is the author, essayist and chairman of PEN Germany, Matthias Politycki. He will be joined by Sophia Fritz, author of the essay Toxische Weiblichkeit (2025), in which she uses the concept of toxic masculinity to explore the point at which learned female patterns become potentially harmful.
