4:00 p.m.—Sound Walk with the Museum of No Art, and 7:00 p.m.—“Through the Ages—A Journey of Sound” with Sonja Lena Schmid, Leopold Hurt, Leonie Seemann, and Nina Schaible
Late summer at Schaalsee—and a festival for listening, discovering, and enjoying the outdoors. “Rauschen am See” sets out on musical journeys for curious minds of all ages, featuring music, poetry, and sound art.
On the festival’s second weekend, September 5 and 6, the event continues in Neuenkirchen and Zarrentin. On Saturday, September 5, at 4 p.m., there will be a sound walk: Artist Mona Steinwidder, also known as Museum of No Art, will lead the way from the meeting point at the village church in Neuenkirchen to the lakeshore, where she’ll weave together natural sounds recorded specifically in the region—using a loop station, clarinet, and electronic effects—to create a live, open-air auditory experience (in case of bad weather, the event will take place in the church; duration approx. 60 minutes).
Participation is by donation.
At 7 p.m., the concert “Through the Ages—A Journey in Sound” will follow in the same church: Sonja Lena Schmid (cello) will perform music from the European Baroque era alongside zither player Leopold Hurt, with forays into the present. Joining them are violinists Leonie Seemann and Nina Schaible, two young talents from the Rostock University of Music and Drama.
Admission: €10, reduced rate €8 at the box office
