On Railway Workers' Day, former railway workers and anyone else interested gather in the museum courtyard to chat over coffee and cake
On Railway Workers’ Day, former railway workers and anyone else interested will gather in the museum courtyard to chat over coffee and cake. At 3:00 p.m., museum director Thomas Kühn will lead a tour through the history of steam power in the museum’s permanent exhibition. In addition, the AGE will open its archives and provide insights into the more than 175-year history of Hagenow as a railway hub.
For many years, the Deutsche Reichsbahn was the most important employer in Hagenow and had a significant impact on the town and its residents. Even though the train stations and the former rail yard no longer play a central role in everyday life, memories of life on and around the rails are still very much alive. Once again this year, the Hagenow Museum, in collaboration with the Railway History Working Group (AGE), invites the public to this event to commemorate the cultural heritage associated with the railroad. A reduced admission price applies on Railway Workers’ Day.
