The Mediterranean lightness of being has always been a defining feature of Quadro Nuevo’s music: tango and French valse musette, melodies inspired by Aegean myths,
Daring road trip songs set along a sun-drenched coastal road, Middle Eastern grooves, Brazilian flavors, and Neapolitan hits flow seamlessly into one another.
Quadro Nuevo was founded in 1996 in Chiemgau. Since then, these spirited, passionate musicians have been touring the world and have performed around 4,000 concerts. Their musical poetry is created on the road:
The band draws inspiration from the magic of extensive travels—from the alleys of Bari to the mountain ranges of the Balkans, to the colors of Bangalore and the nights of Buenos Aires. The venues for their performances are as diverse as the roots of their music. Whether at renowned festivals or in venues like Carnegie Hall—Quadro Nuevo engages its audience with the same dedication.
These enthusiastic virtuosos also love spontaneous performances: sailing for weeks through the Aeolian Islands, playing as street musicians in Mediterranean squares, or inviting people to dance as a nighttime tango band. From all these encounters emerges music that can provide a home for people’s hopes and longings.
Quadro Nuevo has twice won the ECHO Award for “Best Live Act of the Year,” the German Record Critics’ Award, several German Jazz Awards, and a Gold Record.
