"Zwerg Nase" is a fairy tale by Wilhelm Hauff, which he published in 1826 in his *Fairy Tale Almanac* for the year 1827, intended for the sons and daughters of the educated classes. Jakob is enchanted solely because he mocks the appearance of a herbalist. The hardships he endured and his fate as "Dwarf Nose" led him to realize that one’s own mistakes can be corrected if one recognizes them and grows from them. True beauty comes from within; character and diligence are more important than outward appearance.
