The story of Caliph Stork is based on a fairytale by Wilhelm Hauff. Caliph Chasid from Baghdad and his vizier Mansor buy a powder with which they can transform themselves into animals. They would like to understand the animals' voices. The magic works as long as they don't laugh. But they can't keep it up. They also forget the spell for their re-transformation. So they remain enchanted. The caliph finally realizes that they have been taken in by the sorcerer Kaschnur. So the two storks set off on a journey on which they meet an owl who helps them ...
Today's fairytale play is an idea of amateur actors from the theater project of the Jewish community of Rostock, in which people from different cultures perform together. Anyone interested in taking part is welcome to contact the director, Ms. Vishnyakova, after the play. A cooperation with the Cultural History Museum of the Hanseatic and University City of Rostock.
