Gessin – In the run-up to the state election in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Green Party’s direct candidate, Jutta Wegner, is seeking direct dialogue with local residents. She has accepted an invitation to an open town hall meeting at the Mittelhof in Gessin to discuss current challenges facing rural areas.
Focus on the Community Forum
The meeting in Gessin will focus on key issues affecting rural areas: from regional development and strengthening village communities to promoting local cultural projects. Citizens are invited to voice their questions, requests, and concerns directly at the event

. A central focus of the discussion will be how to ensure quality of life and sustainability in rural areas outside of metropolitan centers in the long term.
About Me
My heart beats GREEN
I stand for a strong Green voice in state politics—and for a strong Green voice from Neubrandenburg:
– for consistent climate protection
– for an ecological transportation transition
– for a socially just climate transition
– for democracy and diversity
– and for a strong voice by and for women
Talking alone isn’t enough. We must act—now, not tomorrow; consistently, not halfheartedly; sustainably, not just for show.
That’s what I stand for.
Professional Background:
I was born in 1963 in Bad Pyrmont (Lower Saxony). I earned my high school diploma there. In 1986, I graduated from the Lower Saxony University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and the Judiciary with a degree in public administration (FH).
In 1993, I made a conscious decision to move to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. There was a lot to build up here—and that’s exactly what appealed to me. At first, I worked at the

College of Public Administration and Law in Güstrow, and then, until 2021, as a lecturer in social law as well as public and constitutional law at the Institute for Municipal Administration.
My professional background also explains my close connection to municipal issues. The development

of our cities and municipalities is particularly close to my heart.
Current Positions and Responsibilities
In 2019, I was elected to the Neubrandenburg City Council and the District Council. Prior to that, I served on both bodies as an expert resident. Upon my election to the State Parliament in 2021, I resigned from my seat on the City Council as well as my position as parliamentary group leader

and stepped down from my roles as spokesperson in the working groups at the state and federal levels. The separation of office and mandate—a core Green principle—is part of my political DNA.
I have deliberately retained my seat on the Mecklenburg Lake District District Council,

in order to further strengthen my connection to my hometown and to local politics.
In the State Parliament of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, I serve:
– on the Committee on Economy, Infrastructure, Energy, Tourism, and Labor
– on the Committee on Education and Daycare Centers
– as an alternate member of the Committee on Internal Affairs and the Committee on Petitions
– as well as on the Special Commission “Being Young in MV”
