Using the printing press located in the mill’s print shop, we’ll demonstrate and explain how “Before Summer” and “After Summer” were created.
Since 2020, we have been regularly collecting driftwood on the beach at Ahrenshoop. From these “pieces of the sea”—shaped and gnawed by the waves—as well as waste from boatbuilding, we create new representations of the never-ending Baltic Sea coast. The wooden “pieces of the sea” become “seascapes” on paper. We work together in Ahrenshoop twice a year for one week at a time.
During this time, we strive to capture the unique light and atmosphere of the Darß peninsula. Although our works vary in style, our shared color palette and the common mood of the pieces reflect our artistic partnership. With “Before Summer” and “After Summer,” we are not depicting the weather in March 2025 and the first October storm half a year later.
