Texts, pictures and music bring to life what the Jewish composer Robert Kahn experienced in Feldberg from 1910 to 1939, between idyll and expulsion.
Reinhard Wulfhorst has published a book about the time of the Jewish composer Robert Kahn in Feldberg (1910-1939) in his Schwerin music publishing house Edition Massonneau. The presentation of this book will be moderated by the representative for Jewish life and against anti-Semitism in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Nikolaus Voss. String players from the Mecklenburg State Orchestra will perform the Serenade for String Trio composed in Feldberg in 1933.
Reinhard Wulfhorst has spent several years researching archives in Berlin, Mannheim, London and Jerusalem and has discovered a large number of documents relating to Robert Kahn. In addition, the Feldberg property file of "Haus Obdach" was a central source of information for him, as it documents in particular the measures taken by the National Socialists against the Kahn couple. The author also received valuable support from several Feldberg citizens. In addition to many personal letters and photos, the descendants of Robert Kahn made the guest book of "Haus Obdach" accessible for the first time for the book. A special discovery is a cycle of drawings with which the renowned landscape painter Albert Hertel captured the view of the Feldberg lake district from "Haus Obdach" and then surprised his son-in-law Robert Kahn for his birthday. The drawings are being published in the book for the first time.
