The poetry slam on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the JOO Youth Center is definitely going to be an event! “Poetry slam” literally means “poets’ competition” and has been a well-established tradition for several years now. Poets take the stage to compete against one another with poems they’ve written themselves—at the end, the audience decides which poem is their favorite based on the volume of their applause. The winning poem, along with its creative author, advances to the finals. In Waren on this day, you’ll experience representatives of spoken word from Mecklenburg—two rounds, each featuring a five-minute poem, and a thrilling finale.
