At Whitsun, Barth becomes the meeting place for the art scene in Western Pomerania. As part of Kunst:Offen 2026, the town is presenting the central collective exhibition with around 50 works by regional artists in the Vineta Bürgerhaus.
At Whitsun, "Kunst:Offen" will once again take place throughout Vorpommern. Since 1994, the state-wide event has stood for encounters with contemporary art at the place where it was created. More than 1,100 artists open their studios, workshops and galleries at over 560 locations between the Baltic Sea and the Lake District. The spectrum ranges from painting, graphics and photography to ceramics, textile art, jewelry and sculptures.
Barth will take on a special role in 2026.
The city will host the central collective exhibition for Vorpommern. Around 50 selected exhibits by regional artists will provide a concentrated overview of the region's current artistic output.
The opening ceremony will take place on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 17:00 on Bogislaw Square. Musical contributions and small culinary offerings are planned.
On Whit Saturday and Whit Sunday, May 23 and 24, 2026, the collective exhibition will be open from 10:00 to 18:00 in the hall of the Vineta Bürgerhaus. Admission is free of charge.
Numerous artists from Barth will also be taking part and opening their own spaces to visitors. Among them are:
Inge Kaliska in the "Lütt Stuv"
Heilke Heller and Stefan Reiter at "Kunstkonsum"
Bettina Follenius in the "Papierkiste"
As in the whole of Vorpommern, a yellow umbrella or a blue and white flag will mark the participating locations.
Up-to-date information on all participating artists and regional program items is published by Tourismusverband Vorpommern e. V.. Flyers are available in the region's tourist information offices in spring.
Use the Whitsun days for an artistic journey of discovery - in Barth and throughout Vorpommern.
