Love, cunning, and a henpecked husband: Telemann’s “Pimpinone” is a lively comic opera about charm, power, and a mismatched marriage. The Schlossoper Berlin-Brandenburg is performing at the Theater Putbus with Yuri Mizobuchi, Stephen Barchi, Yuko Tomeda, and the Mozartensemble Berlin.

Telemann’s *Pimpinone, or The Unequal Marriage* is one of the earliest German comic operas and was a huge hit with audiences even in its own time. The story centers on the shrewd chambermaid Vespetta, who wins over the wealthy Pimpinone with her charm and clever scheming. After the wedding, however, it quickly becomes clear who is really in charge in this marriage.

The Schlossoper Berlin-Brandenburg brings Telemann’s lively three-act comedy to the stage of the Theater Putbus. With Yuri Mizobuchi as Vespetta, Stephen Barchi as Pimpinone, Yuko Tomeda on the harpsichord, and the Mozartensemble Berlin, the result is a delightful evening of opera full of wit, elegance, and musical lightness.

Musical Director and Harpsichord: Yuko Tomeda
