New event series at the Stralsund City Library: Discover fantastical worlds, create your own heroes and heroines, and experience exciting stories together. Starting in September, the Stralsund City Library invites you to participate in a new series of pen-and-paper role-playing games.
Every second Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the library becomes a gathering place for role-playing fans and anyone who’d like to give this hobby a try.
The first dates are September 12, October 10, November 14, and December 12, 2026. The series will continue in 2027.
Pen & Paper combines collaborative storytelling and gameplay with fantasy adventures. Participants take on the roles of fictional characters and experience exciting stories together with the group. Whether it’s heroic fantasy, pirate tales, or spine-chilling monster hunts—the story that unfolds is decided at the gaming table.
“We want to create a place where people can easily get to know Pen & Paper, play together, and connect with other role-playing fans,” say Bianca, Tino, and Daniel, who volunteer as game masters for the new series. The three Stralsund residents have been playing various pen-and-paper systems for several years and already have experience running gaming sessions.
A Variety of Systems for Beginners and Experienced Players
Various systems will be played, all of which are suitable for beginners. To kick things off, the lineup includes Vaesen, a spooky role-playing game set in the Mythic North; “Pirate Borg,” featuring pirate adventures in a cursed Caribbean, the well-known “Dungeons & Dragons,” the classic fantasy role-playing game “Splittermond,” and “Daggerheart,” a modern fantasy role-playing game with a special focus on collaborative storytelling.
But it’s not just about gaming: The event series is also meant to provide an opportunity to meet other people from Stralsund and the surrounding area, discover new game systems, and build a local pen-and-paper community.
For anyone who’s curious
Whether you’re a complete beginner, an experienced player, or a curious fantasy fan—everyone interested is welcome. No prior experience is required. Those who have been playing for a long time and would like to learn about new systems or meet new fellow players are also warmly invited.
The Pen & Paper series takes place every second Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the event basement of the Stralsund City Library. Participation is free of charge.
